2 | M&L for preparation of joints and cracks prior to overlay/surface treatment. Remove all vegetation and debris from cracks to a minimum depth of 25 mm. dusting with air jets, treat the specific area with appropriate crack sealing material prior to application of slurry seal as directed and specified by the Engineer--in-charge. Fill all the cracks 4-6 mm wide, along with soft or sunken spots, indicate that the pavement or the pavement base should be repaired or replaced as stated below. Cracks and joints shall be filled as per latest MORTH specifications with a mixture of slow setting cationic emulsified bitumen type SS-2, water(6-12) %, filler (1-2) %, aggregate and additives(0.5-2.0)%. The quantity of slurry seal shall lies from 8.4 to 9.8 kg/m2 and residual binder content shall lies from 7.5 % to 13.5 % (% by weight of dry aggregate) . The aggregate shall consist of crushed stone dust, clean, sharp, hard, durable and uncoated dry particles and free from soft pieces, organic and other deleterious substances or other material that will cure to form a hard substance complete all as specified and as directed by Engineer in Charge. | 650.00 | RM |

4 | Tack coat is required if the surface is extremely hungry and dry all as directed and specified by Engr-in-charge. The proportions of slow setting cationic bitumen emulsion and aggregate shall be determined in the field and may be varied to facilitate construction requirements. Normally, these proportions will be approximately one part slow setting cationic bitumen emulsion to five parts aggregate by volume. The material shall be poured or placed into the joints or cracks and compacted to form a void less mass. The joint or crack shall be filled to within +0 to -1/8 inches (+0 to -3 mm) of the surface. Any material spilled outside the width of the joint shall be removed from the pavement surface prior to constructing the overlay. Where concrete overlays are to be constructed, only the excess joint material on the pavement surface and vegetation in the joints need to be removed complete all as specified and as directed by Engineer in Charge. | ||
