4 | <H><U>SURFACE PREPARATION OF TANK ROOF</></> Surface preparation using hand tool cleaning using non sparking tools and solvent cleaning including removal of oil, grease and other contaminants removal of loose or defective paint, rust from the metallic surfaces, by hand chipping, scrapping, hand brushing, using chipping hammers, hand scrappers/chisels, coire brushes, sand paper, steel wools etc. and final cleaning with high pressure (@ 3000 psi and more), low TDS soft water jet and drying with compressed air , with clean brushes/rags, providing all labours, tools & tackles, arrangement for working at heights to complete the work in all respect as per the specifications, and directions of EIC / Site Engineer. The Prepared surface shall conform to ST. 2. Holes and pits during the course of surface preparation on the roof must be plugged by owner supplied metal putty to mould the pits in perfect match with the flat surface of top deck plates prior to application of primer strip coat .
